From Chania airport as well as from Heraklion airport, the fastest and easiest way to Plakias runs via Rethymnon.
The exit of the National Road to the South is high above the town of Rethymnon.
From there you can view the Old Town and the port down by the sea.
The sign by the highway exit points to the villages of Spili and Timbaki.
On your way to the South you will pass the village of Armeni, and 6 kms before Spili you will find the branch to Plakias on the right hand side.
You will pass the village of Koxare.
The road then winds towards the Kourtaliotiko gorge and passes it, and afterwards it runs to the right through the village of Asomatos.
By the upper village exit of Asomatos the road runs over a knoll and down to the left hand side to Plakias.
Later there is a fork in the road where it splits to the right to Myrthios, and to the left to Plakias.
As soon as you arrive to the beach road of Plakias, bend in to the right and pass the village.
Close to the old port there is a one-way regulation.
Follow the one-way street on the right and leave Plakias in direction of Sellia.
The road runs along the coast and passes the new port.
Then the road to Sellia branches off to the right.
After a tight right turn the sideway to the Phoenix Apartments branches off to the left.
